Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tapioca Starch, Brassica Alcohol, Magnesium Hydroxide, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Bambusa Arundinacea (Bamboo) Stem Extract, Hydrated Silica, Zinc Oxide, Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax), Jojoba Esters.
Push up product from the base of the tube (just a little).

Well the title says it all. I didn't know a deodorant could "pill." It also doesn't do the best at keeping sweat away, but I also live in Texas. I will continue to use it for now but might switch in the future.

We're sorry to hear that you are not having the best experience with our Deodorant. 😞Our deodorant formulation is creamier than a traditional deodorant to make it easier to apply and use. You only need to press a small amount of product up from the base and apply a very small amount to under the armpit. The deodorant shouldn't come off in clumps - and you shouldn't apply too much product that your underarm has a thick layer on top of the skin.
Instead - focus on applying a very small amount, and rub in with your fingers to ensure the product is fully absorbed. I'd recommend using significantly less product and/or rubbing the applied deodorant into the skin with your hands to make sure there's no excess product sitting atop the skin to transfer from your underarm to your clothing. The key is to really not press too much up in your first use - go slow!
When it comes to how it works - it's not an antiperspirant - this means it won't stop you completely from sweating, but it will prevent bad odours and help to absorb sweat. It is a natural deodorant after all and we choose to not use aluminium due to our product promise. Natural deodorants can only achieve so much, so in warmer temperatures or environments you might find that you need to reapply during the day to "top up". When you do switch to a natural deodorant without aluminium it can take a while for your body to adjust to sweating normally again - this can take a couple of weeks for your skin and routine to adapt. This is due to the process of your body not using aluminium salts to block the sweat glands.
For many consumers they adjust to the change over a month and we generally always have very positive feedback about our deodorants, how they work, and the bonus of the ingredients we choose to not include.
If the above doesn't improve things please reach out to us at [email protected] and we will see about how we can help further.
Thanks, Team @Ethique

This deodorant left a heavy white residue on my skin and melted off pretty much immediately. Had to toss it out because it was just taking counter space.
Positive: didn’t irritate my sensitive skin.

The scent free deodorant does it's job pretty well. I do three swipes down each under arm and rub it in. There is no stench for several hours, and my skin has had no negative reactions to the product.
The reason I gave 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because I seem to be more than halfway through with only 2 weeks of use. Most deodorants with similar ounces last much longer than this at similar or smaller price points. Particularly I'm thinking of Arm&Hammer deodorants. Perhaps I'm using too much, but I'll have to test if less swipes will work just as well.

Thought I was too stinky for unscented, but this completely prevents the stink! Then you can wear whatever perfume you want and not get conflicting scents.

I've been using ethique deodorant for a number of years, and I've really loved it, it's worked well for me. This is my first time using the unscented version, and I like it. I definitely have to reapply at least once throughout the day, so it doesn't have the distance that I might prefer, but I love the biodegradable packaging. HOWEVER the new design of the deodorant tube, which mimics mainstream deodorant design, is so bad. The previous round tube was really difficult to close as well, but I could do it. As for the new oval design, I haven't been able to close it since the day I opened it. If I want to travel with this, I'll need to wrap it in something else, because there is no way I'll ever be able to get the lid back on. I almost prefer the old old days when Ethique deodorant was in a bar. That would be better.
Was this helpful?EEthique3 weeks agoHi Katelyn,
Thanks so much for your review, although I'm really sorry to hear that your experience with our Deodorant hasn't been as great as it should be. 😕
While we're all about the benefits of home compostable, plastic-free packaging, I’ll admit it’s not as tough as the more traditional glass or plastic dispensers. It does need a little extra care when putting the lid back on, and if it gets misaligned, it can damage the inner lip, making it harder to get the lid back on later.
We moved to this new shape as our loyal customers told us they could find this shape easier on shelf and it was easier to apply. I'm sorry that this new shape hasn't lived up to your expectations. You can always cut a little slice into the side of the tube lid and that will help navigate the lid back on and off as the cardboard slowly wears down.
I hope that helps clear things up more - again thank you for your review. 🙂
